The purpose for processing your data and our basis for doing so.

We process your personal data for the purpose of providing an opportunity to become a customer of, or a partner with Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus PLC). We use the data for managing contract and communications with you as well as introducing you to Utility Warehouse (UW) through their online portal. We collect personal data either through our web based contact form, our networking activities or through online interactions with our social media.

The personal data we collect is your name and contact details and if appropriate, your company name. We will keep notes of our conversations to support our communications with you and to record introductions into UW. The legal basis we use to process your personal data is Article 6.1.f UK GDPR – ‘legitimate interest’ as we have a legitimate interest is increasing our customer and partner base.

If you do not wish to provide us your data for processing, we may still be able to provide an introduction to Utility Warehouse.

For marketing purposes, we process your personal data to send you information about our services and how you can benefit from being a customer or partner with UW. We do this based on Article 6.1.a UK GDPR – consent which you provide when signing up to our contact form on our website. You are free to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

Our website uses cookies for which a visitor is required to provide consent to place. The personal data obtained from these non-essential cookies is processed under Article 6.1.a UK GDPR – ‘consent’. You are free to revoke this consent at any time. Cookies that provide store consent preferences are placed under Article 6.1.c UK GDPR – ‘legal obligation’.

Recipients of your data

As a general principle, we will not transfer your personal data to other recipients without your permission. There are some exceptions to this: 

  • It is possible, that we might be obliged to disclose personal information in response to a court order or other lawful obligation.
  • We will share limited personal data with our accountants.
  • We will share your personal data with Utility Warehouse.

Data processed by third parties on our behalf. 

We use the services of other organisations in the processing of personal data. We use cloud-based email and document storage, web hosts and video conference platforms. Our website processes limited personal data through contact form and we use a cloud based Customer Relationship Management platform.

Transferring your data outside of the UK

Personal data is held in UK data centres as well as being transferred to the USA. Transfers of personal data to the USA based platforms is facilitated by the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Retention periods 

We will retain your data only for the time we require it for the purposes stated and / or where we have a legal obligation or other legitimate purpose. We will retain personal data of customers and partners for a period of 7 years to comply with HMRC rules. We will retain the personal data of prospects for 5 years from last contact.

Automated decision making

We do not undertake any automated decision making.

Your rights 

The UK GDPR provides you with several rights in relation to the data of your we process. The rights relevant to our activities are:

  • You have the right to get access to and copies of your personal data.
  • You can ask us to rectify any inaccurate information we may be holding. 
  • You can request we restrict our processing of your data.
  • You can ask us to erase your personal data if it is no longer required for the purpose we collected it for or have no legal obligation to retain it.
  • You have the right to object to processing we undertake under a legitimate interest basis.
